Summit Symphony Conceert
The Summit Symphony Orchestra continues its 2018-19 season on Sunday, March 17 at 2:00pm, at Summit High School on Kent Place Blvd. in Summit. The concert will include music by Bach, Beethoven and Bartok. Admission to all Summit Symphony concerts is free but donations are gratefully accepted. “Dances in Time” will feature concert music meant for or inspired by dance. Bach’s Orchestra Suite #3, written around 1731, includes the movement now known as “Air on a G String”. Bartok’s Roumanian Dances are just that, orchestral pieces based on Roumanian folk dances. Symphony No. 7 by Beethoven is often considered to be dance like. Musical director Michael Avagliano will be presenting an afternoon talk on the concert at the Summit Library on Thursday, March 14. Please check with the library (908.273.0350) for the exact time. The Summit Symphony has been providing free orchestral concerts for the Summit area since 1938. Their 2018-19 season includes 4 performances, the final one being on May 19. For more information about this concert and about the Summit Symphony Orchestra, please visit www.summitsymphony.org.
