YMCA day trip to NY
Join us for a fun filled day in NYC. Our first stop we visit the newly opened Whitney Museum where we will have a self guided, multimedia audio tour of this amazing museum and its collections. The Whitney is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting American art, and its collection--arguably the finest holding of twentieth-century American art in the world. Head outdoors and take a quick walk on the high line before heading over to Macelleria for a delicious 3 course sit down lunch. After lunch, private tour guide Reva Cooper will take us through Greenwich Village, the extraordinary neighborhood of New York City where great artists and memorable eccentrics lived and created and major political activists protested and changed our society. Included will be the homes, theaters and drinking hangouts of writers and performers, buildings used as TV exteriors, famous riot scenes, exquisite 19th Century townhouses on leafy back streets and Washington Square Park. A day not to be missed! Space is limited to 25 participants. Please register early. *This trip will have lots of walking and we will be going in and out of NY on the NJ Transit train and using the subway .
