Since the early 2000’s, Union County upgraded a large number of the nearly 400 traffic signals on County or Local Roads in Union County. Included within that were two pedestrian hybrid traffic signals in Westfield. Gordon Meth was involved in the design of these beacons and 40 other traffic signals in Union County. His presentation will give an overview of some of the considerations facing the design of traffic signals and some of the future possibilities for smarter traffic signals. Gordon Meth is a professional engineer in 19 States, DC, and 1 Canadian province that specializes in transportation planning and traffic engineering. He is also a professional planner in New Jersey.
