The Body & Psyche in Modern and Contemporary Art
Presented by Anne Swartz, Professor of Art History, Savannah College of Art and Design
Much of Modernist art centered on the re-definition of the body in space, both in its representation and in the ways that artists like Duchamp, Bourgeois, Pollock and Gorky produced art. Anne Swartz will address the transparency of the process and its relationship to the artist’s body via the work of several 20th century artists who explored their autobiographies in their art.
