Taste of Summit
The Tase of Summit, the Historical Society’s major yearly fundraiser, will feature the specialties of nearly two dozen of the city’s restaurants and food shops. Already committed to participate are La Pastaria, the Summit Diner, Winberie’s, Starbucks, Sweet Nothings, Joe’s Pizzeria & Vittoria Ristorante, Natale’s Bakery, Towne Deli, The Hat Tavern, food., Marco Polo, The Office, Zappia’s Brick Oven Pizza, Brownie Points, Roots Steakhouse, Summit Thai, The Huntley Tavern, Fiorino and Carter & Cavero.
Each of the eateries and shops will have staff on hand serving sample size portions of their specialties, and a cash bar will be featured.
In addition, a 50/50 raffle will benefit Friends of the Firetruck, a collaboration between the historical society and the Summit Fire Department. The goal is to raise the funds necessary to preserve and display the city’s decommissioned 1927 Chemical Engine No. 1 in a new garage on the property of the Carter House at 90 Butler Parkway, home of the society and believed to be Summit’s oldest remaining building.
Today the house is a local history museum and home to archives that include photos, newspapers, maps, postcards and city directories that date back more than 100 years. All materials are available to the public free of charge.
