Everything is Coming Up Roses
Featuring Eight Private Short Hills Gardens and Greenwood Gardens, a historic property in Short Hills, NJ
On June 9th from 10am - 4pm, the Short Hills Home Garden Club will once again swing open the garden gates to eight unique private gardens as well as the 28-acre historic Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills. Highlights to be seen on this self-guided tour include: an exquisite garden with a wisteria-covered pergola and more than a dozen different varieties of roses; terraced gardens with hundreds of mixed perennials, pond, and water features; and an elegant tudor property whose garden, first designed in the 1930's, was a winner of the 1936 New York Herald Tribune Yard & Garden Competition. On past tours, visitors have expressed how much they have enjoyed ?the diversity of formal park-like to intimate garden settings. Also included on the tour is Greenwood Gardens, once a grand private estate that is now a public garden that combines formal gardens with sweeping New York vistas. Greenwood Gardens is listed in Barron's publication 1001 Gardens You must See Before You Die. All of these beautiful gardens in Short Hills are just waiting to be discovered. Proceeds of the event will benefit Greenwood Gardens and other community projects. New this year is a raffle of watercolor paintings of roses. Complimentary light refreshments will be served. For added convenience, a special $25 prix-fix lunch will be available to tour attendees at Paper Mill Playhouse's Carriage House Bistro & Bar on a reservation basis. In addition, there are many other wonderful dining options just steps away in Downtown Millburn.
