Shop to Make a Difference
A Holiday Handcraft Sale featuring a wide selection of quilts, totes, handbags, rugs, Christmas items and paper goods from Egypt. Sponsored by Marilyn Pfaltz and Sue Habachy, all proceeds of the event go to support a woman's cooperative established in the Zabaleen Community in Cairo who have for generations been the traditional garbage collectors for the city. These families have historically subsisted at the very bottom of the economic and educational success ladder. In 1992 a voluntary group organized an Association to improve the lives and livelihood of these families through the education and production of handicrafts.
