Calvary Church, Summit will host the second part of its Advent series titled “Proclaiming The Good News through Diplomacy and Reconciliation”. The Rev. Wallace Adams-Riley will speak on his current ministry of speaking, teaching and writing, asking how the Gospel calls us to reckon with our history in relationship to slavery and race. Wallace formally served for nine years as rector of historic St. Paul’s Church, Richmond, a church once known as the “Cathedral of the Confederacy.” During his tenure in 2015, the Church inventoried the Confederate symbols in the church and took efforts to remove images of the Confederate flag from within its walls. Wallace, a direct descendent of eleven Confederate soldiers, has discerned a call to grapple with that history and to help and encourage others to do so, for the sake of reconciliation. All are welcome.
