New Jersey Jazz Society Jazzfest 2012
Singer Tony DeSare, the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra and Emily Asher’s Garden Party are some of the headliners at Jazzfest 2012 presented by the New Jersey Jazz Society. Started in 1976, the Northeast’s longest running jazz festival will feature nine hours of nonstop jazz on Saturday, June 16 from noon to 9:00 p.m. on the campus of the College of Saint Elizabeth on Route 124 in Morristown, New Jersey. Other artists to appear include Eddie Monteiro and Shades of Brazil, the Jon Burr Trio performing a Tribute to Stephane Grappelli, Andy Farber’s Swing Mavens featuring Champian Fulton and a Tribute to Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan and Louis Prima with Swingadelic. The festival also offers a variety of vendors, including food, hard to find jazz CDs, records, crafts and art. Major sponsors for the event include Toyota of Morristown, PNC Wealth Management, Boyle Hotel Group, Riker Danzig, Star-Ledger, WBGO Jazz88FM, Hot House Magazine and the Madison Arts & Culture Alliance. The Best Western Plus Morristown Inn has discounted rooms for festival patrons. The proceeds will go to support college scholarships for young jazz musicians.
