The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will present Future of the Book: A Panel Discussion on October 27 from 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm. This dynamic event will explore the evolving roles and meanings of the book in today’s society. Experts will expand upon the general understanding of the nature of the book and address topics such as technology, social media, libraries, and the book as an object.
The panel will be moderated by Dr. Laura Winters, Professor of Literature at the College of St. Elizabeth in Madison. Participants include: C. Max Magee, creator and editor of The Millions, an online magazine and co-editor of The Late American Novel: Writers on the Future of Books; Alexandria Arnold, Assistant Director of the Summit Public Library; Joy Garnett, painter and media artist featured in Bibliomania; and Dan O’Connor, Associate Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Rutgers University. This free event is being held in conjunction with the Art Center’s fall exhibition, Bibliomania,. that examines the many ways contemporary artists treat the book as subject matter and will be on view through December 11.
