First Friday - March 7, 2014 - PRIVACY & TECHNOLOGY
Social Media: Crafting a Lawful but Effective Policy -- Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are powerful tools but the rewards are not without risk. Scrutiny of workplace social media policies and new decisions are emerging monthly. Are you caught up on the latest developments? This First Friday will offer a review of the National Labor Relations Board's recent enforcement, examine subsequent decisions interpreting those guidelines and provide insights on crafting and implementing effective policies while safeguarding legal compliance.
What About Equipment -- In an effort to save resources, an increasing number of companies are implementing bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies, allowing employees to use their own devices during work hours. What type of privacy should employees expect when using their devices during work hours? What about when they use company devices to access their email and social media accounts? Our speaker will explore the line between employers’ rights to know and employees’ rights to privacy. In addition, it will examine laws and regulations regarding privacy in the workplace, what employees can expect and how employers can avoid litigation. It will also explain best practices for terminating access to data when an employee leaves your company
