He graduated Rutgers University\, and graduated with honors from St. John's Law School in 1974. He served in the State Assembly from 1978 to 1983\, and has been in the Senate since. He currently chairs the Senate Economic Growth Committee\, serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee\, and is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Throughout his public service career\, Senator Lesniak has championed a wide range of legislative efforts.
