DESCRIPTION:Captain Carl Winter will share his experience as commander of an ocean-going telecommunications cable-laying ship on the high seas. A brief overview of the history of undersea cables will be followed by an explanation of the installation and servicing of modern fiber optic cable systems. The presentation will include a description of the overall effort involved in the design\, manufacture\, and installation of a cable system with special focus on the mission of modern cable-laying and repair vessels. The program will take place on May 30 at the New Providence Presbyterian Church starting at 10 AM Join us for coffee prior to program\, guests are welcome. The program can also be viewed via ZOOM.
