Vegan Cook-Off at Berkeley Heights Vegan Fest 2019
The Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission (BHEC) and Sustainable Berkeley Heights are co-sponsoring Berkeley Heights Vegan Fest 2019, which runs from Friday, Sept. 20 - Sunday, Sept. 22. All events are free, open to the general public, and located in Berkeley Heights, NJ. Close out summer's official last weekend by participating in the fabulous Vegan Cook-Off on this third and final day of Vegan Fest at 1:00 p.m. in Lower Columbia Park (located in Berkeley Heights, behind Columbia Middle School)! If you have a great vegan appetizer, main course, or dessert that you'd like to enter, now is your chance to show off your culinary skills to your neighbors, friends, and all others who attend! Join us on this third and final day of Vegan Fest. Veganism includes a diet in which no animals or animal products (including eggs and dairy products) are used. This is an opportunity for everyone - vegans and non-vegans alike - to showcase their skills at creating vegan dishes that can taste delicious. Prizes will be awarded to all winners. Interested contestants must pre-register and enter their dish at http://bit.ly/BHVF2019. Examples of the prizes – intended to appeal to a broad audience - include: • Berkeley Hardware - Portable Gas Grill and Tool Set • Stephanie Skidmore of Mary Kay Cosmetics - Gift Basket valued at $175 • Sublime – Full body massage • European Wax – Gift Basket • Fountain of Youth Spa - $75 Gift Certificate • Dimaio Cucina – Dinner for two/$50 Gift Certificate • Delicious Heights - $50 Gift Certificate • Bella Bella Nail Spa - $30 Gift Certificate Just for attending and signing in, you could win prizes including gift certificates from Berkeley Car Wash, New Polished Nails, NJ Veg, Blue Jasmine, or Smoothie King of Summit, or a free moonbounce rental from Taylor Rental (you must be present to win). Thanks to the generosity of Brown & Brown and the Smith Chiropractic Foundation, a limited number of free event t-shirts will be distributed to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. A blue-ribbon panel of judges, including Berkeley Heights Mayor Angie Devaney, will determine the winning entries. Delicious Heights and Smoothie King of Summit will be distributing samples of their vegan food and drink samples, respectively.
