Reminisce about the great American pastime
Mark Di Ionno is a lifetime newspaperman, a 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist in news commentary, and a five-time winner of the New Jersey Press Association’s first-place award for column writing will talk about his lifetime involvement in sports reporting. His columns appear regularly in The Star-Ledger, and its online partner, nj.com. Di Ionno began his career in sports and was a columnist at The New York Post, where he broke many stories, including parts of baseball’s case against Pete Rose and the undoing of Mike Tyson. In his talk he will also discuss his second novel, Gods of Wood and Stone, the story of two men, framed by the lens of baseball—a timeless but strikingly singular tale of the responsibilities of manhood and the pitfalls of glory. The discussion will be heard at the New Providence Borough Hall starting at 10 am and ending at 11.30 am. Visit our web site www.summitoldguard.org for more information.
