Cruising America's Great Loop
Name: Cruising America's Great Loop
Date: January 22, 2019
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM EST
Starting in 2014, Stuart & Julie Conway cruised America’s Great Loop aboard their 42 foot powerboat Meander. Their journey began in Raritan Bay, NJ in June, 2014. It took them up the Hudson River, though the Great Lakes and Canada’s North Channel to the Mississippi River, Gulf of Mexico, Florida Keys, Bahamas and back up the east coast to home base in Raritan Bay. This cruise on America’s Great Loop, from 2014-2015, required close quarters navigating, shallow draft, and limited rig height. Stu will share highlights of their year- long adventure through photos, anecdotes and a show-and-tell. Stu and his wife circumnavigated the world from 1998-2001 aboard their 58 foot sailboat Stampede which was the subject of a presentation to the Summit Old Guard 10-12 years, and Stu has completed three Trans-Atlantic passages by sail. He now finds himself exploring Raritan Bay and club racing Wednesday afternoons off of Perth Amboy. The presentation will take place on January 22 at the New Providence Borough Hall starting at 10.00am and ending at 11.30am. Visit www.summitoldguard.org for further information.
